Since the start of 2018, there have been 17 homicides in the city of Boston. 2 out of the 17 happened right in my own neighborhood, unfortunately. I never had the privilege of growing up in a community not plagued by gun violence, but on the other hand, I did have the choice on speaking up on issues even if it didn’t directly affect myself or the surrounding communities. And for those of y’all  privilege enough not to feel the effects of gun violence in your own communities and or schools, how are you taking action to help those who are? #wearorange #useyourvoice

Thank you, My'Kel McMillen. Your speech was amazing! I think of your friend Chris, often, and I am so sorry that he was taken just two days before Harmony & Hope

Youth Leadership Program

Special thank you to Program Manager Marry Little of the Behavioral Heath & Community Health Worker Teams. Had the opportunity this evening to be a guest speaker at the Bowdoin Heath Center located on 230 Bowdoin Street, Dorchester, MA 02122. More specifically there Youth Leadership Program ages ranging from 14 to 17. I shared personal stories about myself from having one of my best friend’s murdered to dealing with depression, suicidal thoughts to being an entrepreneur and as well as community activist. Though I was honored to be a guest speaker, I wanted each individual in that room to know that they’re the biggest stars in their space in every moment. They are the future but we must also make sure they’re properly prepared for it. #powertoouryouth #theyouthareourfutureleaders #sillyfaces
